Skate sharpening
The importance of skate sharpening
For winter sports enthusiasts, skating is a real winter treat, but skate sharpening is often neglected. Sharpening is essential for successful skating, so let's take a look at how important skate sharpening is to quality skating.
Why is skate sharpening so important?
Firstly, a sharp skate glides more easily on the ice, which increases speed and manoeuvrability. In addition, a properly shaped edge helps with stability and maintaining proper balance on the ice. If the skate is blunt, it can slip more easily and cause injuries.
Sharpening your skates is important not only for safety but also for enjoyment. A sharp skate makes it easier and more fun to dance on the ice, do tricks or play hockey. A dull skate can quickly become a dull experience.
How can you make sure your skates are properly sharpened?
It's best to leave this task to a professional, for example an experienced skate shop or skate rental shop such as willisport.hu or skateaelezes.hu. They have the right tools and expertise to sharpen your skates optimally. The frequency of sharpening depends on how much skating you do, but it is usually worth doing it at least at the beginning and middle of each season.
Don't neglect to sharpen your skates, because a sharp skate not only improves safety and performance, but also increases the enjoyment of this wonderful winter sport. Let's make sure we get the best out of skating every time and enjoy every moment on the ice!
In Hungary, too, we have a very significant number of skaters whose skates have been moulded by one of our Willisport shops. For example, we have seen many children's skates that, if they had not been moulded, would probably have been thought to be out of balance, but they were only on such a small surface that it was almost impossible to skate on them.
Skate sharpening feedback
Our skate sharpening feedback is 95% extremely positive, 5% neutral, but only because the skater doesn't realise that they used to skate with a 6" sleeve, for example, whereas now they skate with a 16" or even flatter sleeve. We always welcome feedback and hope that the 5% neutral feedback rate will continue to decrease.
